Captain Ray Young, dressed in his military uniform, points at Vietnam on a map after returning to Twin Falls from the war in Vietnam where he served for eleven months as a helicopter pilot. Items on the table are, counter-clockwise starting in the lower left corner are a South Vietnamese flag; a Viet Cong shoe made from part of an old tire; a Montegnard crossbow and arrows, made by tribesmen in the Vietnamese highlands; five medals; a household broom made from rice straw, and a Montegnard burial cloth, which also is used as a blanket or shawl. The five medals received by Captain Young are, from left, a Bronze Star for meritorious achievement; the Distinguished Flying Cross; an air medal with oak leaf cluster; the Purple Heart, for wounds received while under mortar attack, and the Arm Commendation
medal with "V" device for valor under enemy fire.
